Why the iTunes store sucks.

February 20, 2010

When you really want to hear one of your favourite songs, but you don’t have the mp3 on your computer you might be tempted to actually pay to hear the song. Nowadays the most convenient place to buy music online is the Apple Inc. software known as iTunes. The iTunes store collection has over 10 millions songs available worldwide, but sometimes your favourite song is not that easy to get. On the odd occasion the song you really need to hear is packaged with other songs, meaning you have to buy an entire album just to hear one song; a single song costs $1.29 CAD. If you are stuck in the scenario where your desired song is available “Album Only”, that means you have to pay upwards of $9.99 to hear that song. On the brightside you get 15 other songs with your track, which is actually cheaper than if you bought 15 songs individually. If you are really unfortunate, than the album you just bought might be the soundtrack from some 2006 romantic comedy featuring the talents of Jimmy Fallon. Oh boy, you know those 14 other songs are just going to suck.

And that is why the iTunes store, and the whole notion of paying for music over the internet SUCKS!!!!

Why are right wing American political commentary books so damn expensive in Canada?

November 14, 2009

If I want to read some angry, grossly over exaggerated, and truth bending literature, or even just some good old fashion rhetoric, I have to pay top dollar. I am talking about the premium shit, books by people like Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, and the ever enraged, Mark Levin. The words on their pages are so angry that they feel hot to the touch . Glenn Beck’s book, Arguing with Idiots: How to Stop Small Minds and Big Government, costs $37 in the great white north! Oh no, but I spent all my money on beer, and now I want to read about how crappy my health care system is. Ann Coulter’s 2007 book, If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans, costs $32; that’s an insane price to pay, bearing in mind I have to pay 13 cents on every dollar as a sales tax. Mark Levin’s conservative manifesto, Liberty and Tyranny, will run me 33 bucks. I might save up for that because this book because it is the modern day version of Barry Goldwater’s  Conscience of a Conservative. Mark Levin spits so much hot fire in this book that there are flames on the cover! There really are flames on the cover of this book, ironically they are directly under the American flag. Although I do protest the price of conservative Republican literature in Canada, I will admit I did pre-order the Sarah Palin’s book in November of 2009. Going Rouge cost me $35 ($39.55 with tax), I was willing to pay this amount because I can relate to Mrs. Palin; I too have shot a moose for supper, while on the way back from a hockey game.

I cannot keep dishing out this kind of money for books that are going to make me start cursing at my own Prime Minister. Probably along the lines of a socialist or a communist son-of-a-bitch. The ironic thing is that the Canadian government makes a boat load of change off of me when I do buy these books. With the harmonized sales tax at 13% it’s no wonder I am reading so much about the free market.

Apparently, Adam Smith did wear an Adam Smith necktie. At least that is what I read in one of my books.

is it just me or is reddit really addictive?

November 13, 2009

I have been on reddit for a year now, and when I navigate my way to the site, I waste countless minutes just pressing the up and down icons. The site has two (2) permanent links in my firefox broswer, one for the mainpage, and the other for the FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU thread. Every time I use the internet I always stop and check to see if anyone has uploaded any new FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU pictures, oh my god those comic strips never fail to make me laugh. Sometimes I don’t even check the link. I find upping and downing posts to be one of the funnest things to do on the internet, it is so much easier than Stumbling. To anyone who has not tried this website out for themselves, you are missing a world of procrastination.

Now, if you will please excuse me, it has been 9 minutes and I am once again allowed to leave another comment. For Christ’s sake I am level 90, why the fuck do I have to wait!!!

Karma’s a bitch, isn’t it?
